Electricity
Electricity on island is provided by CUC (Caribbean Utilities Company Limited). For the application of a new service or to transfer service you are required to provide;
Proof of ownership or a copy of your lease.
Photo identification e.g. passport, Drivers license or immigration card.
Building/house number and street name.
Before service is connected you must complete a contract and pay a security deposit. Security deposits generally depend on the size of your property i.e. residential houses: CI$100 per bedroom, Apartments and Condos under 1,100Sq. Ft: CI$100 per bedroom. All other Apartments and Condos require a deposit of CI$500 per unit. Average monthly electricity (including air conditioning) for 1 to 2 bedroom properties range from $100 to $250 monthly. This obviously varies according to your household needs.
Water
Desalinated water is supplied by Cayman Water Authority. A security deposit is required for initial connection or reconnection and ranges in price depending on water meter size, from CI$50.00 to CI$350.00.
Initial connection fees again range according to meter size from CI$80.00 to CI$800.00.
A reconnection fee of CI$25.00 applies to all meter sizes.
Meter rental per month varies from CI$5.00 to CI$58.00.
